Your written proposal comes first
You work with Zayd Abbas, a sole trader trading as Focal & Fibre Studio. Before work starts, your proposal sets out the deliverables, exclusions, timing, responsibilities, review points, price and applicable terms. Any project-specific changes are agreed in writing. An enquiry or free introductory call does not commit you to paid work.
Quotes are normally valid for 30 days, with the delivery schedule confirmed when accepted. The proposal includes the trading/contact information and any customer-specific cancellation information needed before you commit.
Website payments and managed care
Small website builds are normally paid 50% to book and 50% before launch. For Foundation, that is £249.50 at each stage; for Growth, £499.50 at each stage. Atlas payments follow the agreed quote. Work starts once the scope, terms and required inputs are agreed.
Managed website care is part of the advertised package. It starts at launch and is billed monthly in advance, with a 12-month minimum. The build fee, monthly fee, minimum first-year total, billing dates and minimum-term end date are stated together in the proposal. After the minimum term, care rolls monthly with 30 days’ notice.
Payment is by bank transfer, normally within seven calendar days of invoice unless the proposal agrees otherwise. No VAT is currently added. Third-party subscriptions, transaction charges, hardware and other agreed extras are separate.
What you own
Client-owned domains and provider accounts remain yours. The studio’s default is to transfer rights in bespoke paid deliverables after the agreed build fee is fully paid, as set out in the written contract.
Pre-existing tools and reusable components remain with their original owner, with the permissions needed for you to use the delivered work. Open-source software, third-party products, fonts, music and other licensed material retain their own licence terms. Any platform restrictions on exporting your site are identified before you commit.
Website care pays for hosting, maintenance and the agreed update allowance; it does not replace or conceal ownership of your paid website. Client-owned domains and credentials are not held hostage over a dispute.
Reviews, changes and support
Website packages include two consolidated pre-launch revision rounds. Please provide consolidated feedback within five working days of a review. Missing essential inputs or feedback can move the schedule; silence is not treated as unconditional acceptance.
Additional pages, substantial changes and new functionality are scoped and priced before chargeable work proceeds. Monthly care allowances do not accumulate. Support response targets cover acknowledgement and assessment, rather than a guaranteed repair time or round-the-clock support.
Ending care and handing over
At the normal end of the agreed service, the standard code/content export and account handover is provided within ten working days of the agreed termination. Migration, redevelopment or other work beyond a standard handover is separately quoted.
Any early-cancellation treatment is set out in the applicable contract before sale. There is no blanket assumption that every remaining monthly fee is automatically recoverable or that every deposit is non-refundable. Data return and retention are agreed before deletion.
Systems and creative projects
Fixed systems labour normally requires 50% to book, with the balance at agreed handover. Equipment is paid in advance or purchased directly by you. Access, backups, outage windows, travel and any hardware costs are agreed before work.
Photography and film normally require 50% to book, with the balance before final unwatermarked delivery. The quote identifies deliverables, usage rights, revisions and delivery dates. Raw files and project files are not standard deliverables. Paid advertising, resale, third-party use and exclusivity need an agreed written licence.
Cancellation and personal-use services
If you are booking mainly for personal or household use, please say so before accepting a proposal. Consumer distance or off-premises service contracts normally include a 14-day cancellation period from contract formation, subject to the applicable rules. Work during that period requires the appropriate express request and information.
Your applicable terms explain how to cancel and provide any required cancellation form. Nothing on this page removes your statutory rights. Read the government’s information on distance selling.
Questions or concerns
Email hello@focalandfibre.co.uk with the project name and a description of the issue. The studio’s aim is to acknowledge a complaint within two working days and propose a remedy or dated investigation update within ten.
This page explains the standard arrangements. The proposal and applicable written terms set out the full agreement for your particular project.
